So why not join the club?
Here are the Top 5 Benefits of Reading
1. Reduces stress
You are placed in another world and get to look at someone else's problems. It's like watching 90 day fiancee, but book style (depending on the books you like). Who said we had to stop using our imagination once we turned into adults?
2. Helps you use your phone less
We all know that excessive phone use is not good for us. Have you ever checked in your settings at your tracked screen time? How many hours do you spend on it? I spend an average of 3 hours a day and my highest "total pickups" was 100! That's ridiculous.
3. Helps prevent or delay Alzheimer's and dementia
You may not care at all but when it starts happening to you or others around you, it's devastatingly scary. This is happening right now to someone in my family and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone :( why do we always wait until the last minute to change?
4. You'll gain knowledge
When you read it creates and forms new synapses in your brain similar to learning a new language. The more you read, the more you'll know and the more you'll be able to pull out that information when you need it.
5. You'll sound smarter
Who doesn't want this? It's not that you'll be using fancier words per say, you'll just articulate your thoughts better because you have so much vocabulary to draw from. This is one of my main goals!
